My friend Ryan recently took a design position at Team Obama, and sent me the link to teesbythepeople.com a few days ago. It's basically an Obama-themed Threadless, where users can vote on which user-created t-shirts they would like to be officially produced. The above is mine, I'll post a link once it goes live to their site (this may take a few days, they seem to be getting a lot more traffic than they expected).
Did you guys see the speech last night? Totally awesome and inspiring -- the gloves are off. And McCain responds today by naming an inexperienced woman as VP. Brilliant.

Facebook/Engagement

I mentioned briefly in the last post that I got engaged, but I feel like I have to share one other bit of info about how it went down. The creepiest/most unusual thing about Facebook by far are the "relationship status" updates; Stacey and I decided to fully embrace this by breaking the news to all but our closest friends/relations via this cold new interface. What I didn't expect was the hillarity of what you see above -- how much of a nerd fucking awesome am I that it was only 31 minutes after my girlfriend publicly acknowledged she liked Star Trek DS9 that I committed the rest of my days to her?

Just a quick update to let everyone know:

- I got engaged last week -- really exciting hectic times
- The merger of this blog and my portfolio site is a little behind schedule
- I like the new Conor Oberst album! Concerned about whether this makes me mainstream or alt (HRO).

Pavement live c. 1994

Missed a few days due to server issues, but this is as good a reason as any to get back: New video of Pavement playing on MTV is making its way around the innertubes and I can't help but join in. Above is Cut Your Hair, but you can find Stop Breathin and Unfair here. Pavement was a really important band in my high school development (the gateway band between Weezer and almost everything new I listen to now, I think) but I never got the chance to see them live. Since they broke up in 2000 (the year I graduated...) I've seen Malkmus a handful of times, once even with Bob, but as good as he and the Jicks are they'll never be Pavement for a lot of people.
Can't post any new design work because I'm in deep with a top-secret project, but I think it would be worthwhile to start posting all the old stuff with a "Portfolio" tag, which might be enough to move this over and unshackle it from the "/blog" yoke.
